Mac MacLellan
President, Wealth Management Central Region

Mac is responsible for overseeing the firm's investment management, banking, and fiduciary business for Northern Trust's offices in the Central Region. In addition, he is a member of the Northern Trust Operating Group, the Northern Trust Wealth Management Executive Committee, and a board member of Northern Trust Securities Inc.

Prior to his current role, Mac was the Global Head of Business Practices and Client Segments for Northern Trust's Wealth Management business. In that capacity, he oversaw Wealth Management's core business practices (investment management, banking, personal trust and advisory services), as well as Wealth Management's core client segments (Ultra High Net Worth, High Net Worth, Affluent, Foundations & Institutional Services). He was also responsible for the business unit's sales and marketing functions.

Prior to assuming this role, Mac served as President of Northern Trust's business in the Southwest Region. Prior to that assignment, he served as National Director of Wealth Advisory Services.

Before joining Northern Trust in 2008, Mac was Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Private Client Services and a member of the JPMorgan Chase Executive Committee. As CEO of JPMorgan Private Client Services, he was responsible for the firm's wealth management business that served high net worth individuals and families throughout the United States and managing over $120 billion in client assets. He was also a member of the JPMorgan Asset Management Operating Group and a member of the JPMorgan Employee Plan Investment Committee, which provided oversight for the firm's pension and 401k plan assets.

Carl Tannenbaum
Chief Economist
Northern Trust


Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. In this role, he briefs clients and colleagues on the economy and business conditions, prepares the bank's official economic outlook and participates in forecast surveys. He is a member of Northern Trust's investment policy committee, its capital committee, and its asset/liability management committee.

Carl publishes weekly commentaries and is frequently interviewed by media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times and Reuters.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Carl spent four years leading the Federal Reserve's risk section. He was deeply involved in the central bank's response to the 2008 financial crisis, helped to create and conduct its stress testing program, and advised senior Federal Reserve leaders on developments in banking and the financial markets.

Carl began his career in banking at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO, a global banking organization with $1 trillion in total assets. He served for more than 20 years as the organization's chief economist and head of balance sheet management.

Carl is a member and past chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee, the National Association for Business Economics, the Conference of Business Economists and the North American Asset/Liability Management Association. Carl also serves on the board of Working in the Schools (WITS), a literacy organization that supports the Chicago public school system.

Carl holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.

Jim McDonald
Chief Investment Strategist
Northern Trust


Jim McDonald is an executive vice president and the chief investment strategist for Northern Trust. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic and tactical asset allocation policy for our institutional and wealth management clients globally. He chairs the Northern Trust Tactical Asset Allocation Committee and is a co-portfolio manager of the Northern Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund. In addition, he is a member of the Investment Policy Committee and trustee of the 50 South Capital Alpha Strategies hedge fund.

Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2001 as the director of equity research, Jim was director of equity research at ABN AMRO in New York and Chicago (1994-2000) and an equity research analyst at ABN AMRO following the environmental services industry (1990-1994). He started his professional career in 1981 with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Detroit.

Jim received a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA degree with high distinction from Babson College. He is a member of the CFA® Society of Chicago and a registered CPA in the state of Michigan.
