Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. In this role, he briefs clients and colleagues on the economy and business conditions, prepares the bank's official economic outlook and participates in forecast surveys. He is a member of Northern Trust's investment policy committee, its capital committee, and its asset/liability management committee.

Carl publishes weekly commentaries and is frequently interviewed by media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times and Reuters.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Carl spent four years leading the Federal Reserve's risk section. He was deeply involved in the central bank's response to the 2008 financial crisis, helped to create and conduct its stress testing program, and advised senior Federal Reserve leaders on developments in banking and the financial markets.

Carl began his career in banking at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO, a global banking organization with $1 trillion in total assets. He served for more than 20 years as the organization's chief economist and head of balance sheet management.

Carl is a member and past chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee, the National Association for Business Economics, the Conference of Business Economists and the North American Asset/Liability Management Association. Carl also serves on the board of Working in the Schools (WITS), a literacy organization that supports the Chicago public school system.

Carl holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.

Jim McDonald's Bio

Jim McDonald is an executive vice president and the chief investment strategist for Northern Trust. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic and tactical asset allocation policy for our institutional and wealth management clients globally. He chairs the Northern Trust Tactical Asset Allocation Committee and is a co-portfolio manager of the Northern Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund. In addition, he is a member of the Investment Policy Committee and trustee of the 50 South Capital Alpha Strategies hedge fund.

Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2001 as the director of equity research, Jim was director of equity research at ABN AMRO in New York and Chicago (1994-2000) and an equity research analyst at ABN AMRO following the environmental services industry (1990-1994). He started his professional career in 1981 with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Detroit.

Jim received a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA degree with high distinction from Babson College. He is a member of the CFA® Society of Chicago and a registered CPA in the state of Michigan.

Pam Lucina's Bio

Pam Lucina is the Chief Fiduciary Officer and head of the Trust and Advisory practice for Northern Trust Wealth Management. Pam works to assist clients and Northern Trust partners in achieving their goals through the use of world class tools and techniques while keeping an eye on the human element of wealth and family dynamics.

Prior to joining Northern, Pam was with BNY Mellon where she held the national role of Executive Director for their Wealth Management Advice, Planning and Fiduciary Services practice. Before that she was with JPMorgan providing wealth and estate planning services, and also spent 10 years in private practices as a tax consultant with Arthur Andersen, and in the trusts and estates departments of both Levin Schroeder and Mayer Brown law firms.

Pam has a strong background in wealth, tax, philanthropic and business owner planning; she also brings expertise in next generation education, governance and global family office matters.

She is a recognized leader and speaker within the Estate and Trust legal community.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Pam is a member of the National Services Leadership Team, and the Wealth Management Executive Leadership Team. These groups oversee the direction of our Wealth Management Business.

Lucina earned her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in Business Administration and Management (BS) and her Doctor of Law (JD), Taxation from DePaul University.

Pam is a member of the Planned Giving Boards for these three Chicago institutions: The Steppenwolf Theater, Shedd Aquarium, The Hadley School for the Blind.
