Join Wealth Management CIO Katie Nixon as she welcomes Evercore ISI’s Head of U.S. Policy and Political Strategy Sarah Bianchi, and Head of Fiscal Policy Ernie Tedeschi, for a conversation on these topics.

Katie Nixon
Chief Investment Officer, Wealth Management

Katie is an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for the Wealth Management business at Northern Trust. In that capacity, Katie leads the national investment management practice for Northern Trust’s Wealth Management business from the firm’s Chicago headquarters. Her responsibilities include investment policy development with a particular focus on portfolio construction and implementation. She also directs the investment management activities of over 200 Northern Trust portfolio managers across the firm’s 60+ Wealth Management offices. Katie sits on the Firm’s Investment Policy Committee and Tactical Asset Allocation Committee, and she chairs the Wealth Management Investment Advisory Committee. Katie was selected as one of Private Asset Management’s ‘50 Most Influential Women in Private Wealth’ for 2016.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Ms. Nixon worked at U.S. Trust Company for eighteen years in several investment related capacities, including Managing Director and Division Manager in the Wealth Management Division in New York, overseeing a group of portfolio managers and client service officers with total combined assets under management in excess of $7 Billion. Ms. Nixon also served on US Trust's Portfolio Policy Committee as well as the Private Equity Investment Committee.

Katie received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her M.B.A. in Finance from New York University, Stern School of Business where she graduated with distinction, Beta Gamma Sigma, and was a Stern Scholar. She has received the designations of both Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) from the Investment Management Consultants Association. Further, she has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is also a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).

Sarah Bianchi
Head of U.S. Policy and Political Strategy

Sarah Bianchi is a Senior Managing Director and Head of U.S. Public Policy and Political Strategy Research at Evercore ISI. Evercore ISI’s Policy team was ranked #1 in the 2019 Institutional Investor All‐America Research Team for Washington Research.

Prior to joining Evercore ISI in 2019, Ms. Bianchi served in a variety of public and private sector roles. In the public sector, Ms. Bianchi was the Director of Economic and Domestic Policy for Vice President Biden and Deputy Assistant to President Obama. Earlier in her career, Ms. Bianchi served in the Clinton White House and as National Policy Director for John Kerry’s Presidential campaign. In the private sector, Ms. Bianchi was an Investment Adviser at Eton Park Capital Management, L.P., a managing director at BlackRock, and the head of Global Policy Development at Airbnb.

Ms. Bianchi graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University and serves on the Senior Advisory Committee for the Institute of Politics at Harvard University.

Ernie Tedeschi
Managing Director and Policy Economist/Head of Fiscal Policy

Ernie Tedeschi is a Managing Director and Policy Economist for Evercore ISI and heads its fiscal analysis. Evercore ISI’s Policy team was ranked #1 in the 2019 Institutional Investor All‐America Research Team for Washington Research.

Prior to joining Evercore ISI, Mr. Tedeschi served as a Senior Advisor and Economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of Economic Policy, where he undertook special analytical projects at the request of Secretaries Geithner and Lew, as well as the Chief Economist and other offices throughout the building. He advised on a broad array of fiscal and economic issues, ranging from the growth effects of the debt ceiling impasse to error persistence in the Federal Reserve’s macroeconomic forecasts. His work was used by the Treasury Secretary to brief the President of the United States on several occasions.

Previously, Mr. Tedeschi was a Senior Associate at the Pew Charitable Trusts’ non-partisan Fiscal Analysis Initiative. Mr. Tedeschi also conceived of and built the Pew Budget Challenge, one of the most detailed and versatile fiscal models available to the general public. He has also worked in public finance consulting, where he advised municipalities and special districts on bond issuance and rate setting, and as a consultant to the City and County of San Francisco’s Office of Economic Analysis, where he completed a cost-benefit analysis of the city’s housing policies.

Mr. Tedeschi completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University and holds an M.P.P. from the University of California at Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy. He is a Certified Business Economist with the National Association for Business Economics and he is a member of American Economic Association.
